Generally, eye injury is not fatal, but often results in seriously-affected quality of life. In this issue we focus on the recent achievements in ocular trauma care. Besides optic nerve injury, globe trauma with severe no light perception (NLP) usually results from great damage to the key tissue of ciliary body, retina and choroidal. Proliferative vitreo-retinopathy (PVR) following ocular injury is considered the most important pathophysiologic pathway inducing NLP. Therefore exploring new PVR prevention and control strategies may reduce the incidence of eye with NLP after ocular injury. Certain achievements, such as anti-inflammation and new type retina tamponad, have been made in China recently.
