This issue focuses on maxillofacial trauma treatment. Prof. Fama and his team from Italy pointed out that maxillofacial trauma is experiencing a higher incidence rate in recent years, especially among motorcyclists. Early precise diagnosis and functional reconstruction can help reduce cosmetic and functional defects. Moreover, besides active bleeding control and air tract clean conducted during emergency treatment, for maxillofacial trauma patients, more attention should be paid to cranial nerve impairment and malocculusion. As severe maxillofacial trauma is often multiple injuries, head, neck and chest CT should be done routinely to screen for occult injuries if possible.
