The abstract of the manuscript should not exceed 250 words and must be structured into separate sections: Objective, the purpose of the study; Methods, how the study was designed and performed and statistical tests used; Results, the main findings; Conclusions, brief summary and potential implications. Key words: please choose 3-5 key words from MeSH database.

Tables

Each table with an appropriately brief title should be numbered and typed on a separate page. No vertical lines should be used. All tables should be referred to in the text in numerical order. All abbreviations should be defined in a note at the bottom of the table.

Figure legends

The legends should be included in the main manuscript text file immediately following the references, rather than being a part of the figure file. For each figure, the following information should be provided: Figure number (in sequence, using Arabic numerals - i.e. Figure 1, 2, 3 etc); short title of figure (maximum 15 words); detailed legend, up to 300 words. Please note that it is the responsibility of the author(s) to obtain permission from the copyright holder to reproduce figures or tables that have previously been published elsewhere.

Photos should be submitted in the form of good quality prints. The JPG files (*.jpg) of pictures will be appreciated. Line drawings should be drawn professionally or with a computer and laser printer, with a width of 8 cm or 17 cm. Each illustration should be sent unmounted and have a label pasted on the back indicating the name of the author, the figure number and its orientation space. Magnification and stain should be indicated when pertinent. All illustrations should be referred to in the text.

References

 References should be listed in the order as mentioned in the text using Vancouver style. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references. Journal abbreviation should follow Index Medicus style. If a journal is not cited in Index Medicus, give its full name. If a manuscript is accepted but not yet published, “in press” should be added at the end of a reference. Besides English, other western languages can be listed directly. Chinese should be translated into English. References should take the following forms: Journal article: Author names (for articles with more than three authors, give the first three followed by et al). Title of article. Journal abbreviation year; volume number: beginning page and end page number. Example: Judah F, Nichael K. A family of angiogenic peptides. Nature 1987;329:671-676.

Monograph: Author names (if more than three, give the first three then et al). Title of book. Edition or volume number. City of publication: publisher name, year: page number of section of book cited. Example: Maniatis T, Fritsch EF, Sambrook J, et al. Molecular cloning. New York: Cold Spring Harbor, 1989:73-76.

Chapter in book: Author names (if more than three, give the first three then et al). Title of chapter. Editor's name (if more than three, give three then et al). Title of book. Edition or volume number. City of publication: publisher name year: inclusive page numbers. Example: Bona CA. Functional immune network. In: Atassi MZ, ed. Molecular immunology. New York: Marcel Dekker, 1984:245-255.

Meeting: Author names (if more than three, give the first three then et al). Title of article. Title of meeting proceedings, city of meeting, year. City of publication: publishers name, year: inclusive page numbers. Example: Kimura J, Shibasaki H. Recent advances in clinical neurophysiology. Proceedings of the 10th International Congress of EMG and Clinical Neurophysiology, Kyoto, 1995. Amsterdam: Elsevier, 1996:203-212.

Competing interes

A competing interest exists when your interpretation of data or presentation of information may be influenced by your personal or financial relationship with other people or organizations. Authors should disclose any financial competing interests but also any non-financial competing interests that may cause them embarrassment were they to become public after the publication of the manuscript.

Authors are required to complete a declaration of competing interests. All competing interests that are declared will be listed at the end of published articles. Where an author gives no competing interests, the listing will read 'The author(s) declare that they have no competing interests'.

Acknowledgements

Please acknowledge anyone who contributed towards the study by making substantial contributions to conception, design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data, or who was involved in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content, but who does not meet the criteria for authorship. Please also include their source(s) of funding. Please also acknowledge anyone who contributed materials essential for the study.

The role of a medical writer must be included in the acknowledgements section, including their source(s) of funding. Authors should obtain permission to acknowledge from all those mentioned in the Acknowledgements.

Please list the source(s) of funding for the study, for each author, and for the manuscript preparation in the acknowledgements section. Authors must describe the role of the funding body, if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; and in the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.

Abbreviations and units of measurement

System International (SI) units are used in the Journal. Abbreviations should be used as sparingly as possible. A full name must be followed wherever an abbreviation is used at first time.
